Final Article (Page 3)

Here is the third page of my feature article. The third page was needed to fit the remaining half of the article itself.

Final Article (Double Page Spread, Pages 1 and 2)

My double page spread is below, which was edited using both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Final Contents Page

Taking advice from my feedback, I made my contents page another double page spread. This allowed more space for me to add other images, text and designs.

Final Cover Page

My final cover page is below, with appropriate edits as suggested by my peers and teacher.

Feedback for First Draft with Own Images

After making my draft of my magazine, I received a list of suggestions for improvements from my teacher. Above, the finished results can be seen.

Task
What I can do to improve
Front cover
·         Make the anchorage text larger on the page and include a quote from the interview.
·         Try adding a drop shadow to the title block.
·         Make the anchorage text larger on the page.
·         Include a dateline and price in smaller font along the barcode – there is no need for it to be in a rectangle block.
·         Write FREE  and WIN in block capitals and in slightly larger font  so it stands out to the reader.
·         You could include a strip along the bottom to promote more artists featured inside the magazine.

Contents Page
·         Contents should be larger on the page.
·         There should be an image of your main cover star on the contents page as she is the main attraction.
·         You could add an editor’s note alongside an image of yourself and a signature at the end to sign it off.
·         Divide the contents into more sections e.g. Rave  guide, Interviews, etc and include a range of articles underneath each section – remember the page is A4 size so you have a lot more space than it seems. If you run out of space you could always design a double page contents.
·         The features section should include all the articles mentioned on the cover.
·         Try to make the most important features stand out on the contents page. These are the pages that the reader will most likely to read first.
·         Use a wider range of images if you do decide to create a double page.
Article Pages
·         You may need to use in design software to create the double page article as it will give you more equally aligned columns. I t will also be easier for you to wrap the article text around the image on the second double page.
·         Make the title larger on the page.
·         Make the drop cap pink so it stands out from the main body text.
·         You could include the magazine logo at the bottom of each page.
·         Please ensure you upload the rest of the article so it can be assessed.
